You don't need Fred Astaire to create a memorable entrance. Try innovative signage or free-standing monuments from MATERIALS, INC. for a compelling entryway into your building complex, development, country club, or park (we did all the municipal facility and park signs for the city of Tempe, Arizona).
We are proud of our ability to do custom work instead of using standardized designs — and for reasonable prices. We work hand-in-hand with you to create a memorable design in whatever way works best for you. For example, landscape architects have sent us detailed drawings, while homeowner associations and other clients have asked us to fashion their outdoor signage for them, often utilizing their logo in the design. Check out these examples of outdoor signage.

What goes into making concrete signs? Shop drawings are created for review and, after approval of all aspects of the design, the letters are cut out of expanded polystyrene (EPS) with a computer-driven (CNC) hot wire machine. They are glued in the formwork backwards (we use a mirror to view the form set-up and verify that all the letters and logo are facing the correct way). The reinforcing is placed and the formwork is filled with standard grey or colored concrete as the project requires. After the concrete has “cured,” the sign is sandblasted or acid etched and paint is applied if the design calls for it. The final step is to coat the sign in two coats of clear, acrylic sealer. It is not an easy process, but the results are stunning!
A precast concrete sign will provide your facility with a standard of permanence and strength. It is an elegant and artistic alternative to plastic, metal, or brick signage, plus a lasting testament to your good taste.
