Disability issues affect all Americans! Approximately 43 million Americans have one or more physical or mental disabilities — a number that grows larger as the population grows older — making the disability community the country's largest minority group. It includes men and women from all religions, ethnic backgrounds, and socioeconomic levels. And it's totally egalitarian — the only minority group that anyone can join.
If you acquire a disability, how will you want to be treated? Wouldn't you want to be able to have a simple picnic in the park, with handicap accessible seating at a picnic table?
As of January 1999, all new recreational facilities designed and constructed by the Department of Parks and Recreation must comply with the federal Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Access to parks and recreation spots is crucial for those with disabilities to be included in mainstream society.
The Materials Inc. Ranchero table is the perfect solution for public facilities that wish to upgrade to ADA compliance. This table has tremendous esthetic appeal and is fully wheelchair accessible. The durable precast concrete makes it suitable for heavy public use. Benches and table have a smooth cast finish. Leg supports come in either a sandblast and smooth combination finish or a hand finish. A wide variety of colors is available.
Our standard Ranchero table is ADA compliant. We are in the process of reviewing
our other picnic tables to make them ADA compliant as well. We are happy to customize any of our precast concrete tables based on your requirements. (Link to photos)
As Kathy Snow, in People First Language says, "If business owners — and our society at large — viewed people with disabilities as consumers with money to spend we wouldn't have to fight for accessible entrances and other accommodations."
Thank you to the National Center On Accessibility and to their commitment to the full participation in parks, recreation, and tourism by people with disabilities.

Note: Outdoor concrete furniture does best in areas where there is no extreme freezing weather.
Our Ranchero table set is featured in both photos above.
It easily accomodates a wheelchair.
